Background
By his own telling, Josh grew up in a trailer park and was short, slight, not athletic and terrible with women. He studied psychology in college in Florida. After a humiliating breakup period that ended with him sleeping in his car in North Carolina, he committed to figuring attraction out. He says he read psychology textbooks, dating and etiquette books, and watched hundreds of hours of training on rapport, body language, persuasion and personality typing. Out of that came the patterns that became Tao of Badass.
His approach
Josh positions himself as the "average guy" coach. His core message is that attraction isn't reserved for rich, tall or ripped men. Instead he focuses on:
- Pre-selection, or social proof from other women
- Propinquity, the pull of closeness and familiarity
- Body language that signals confidence instead of need
- Passing the tests women give and avoiding the friend zone
That separates him from classic "pickup artist" material built on scripts and routines. Tao is about how you carry yourself, not lines.
Media mentions
In his presentation, Josh says he has been invited onto NBC's Today Show, featured on Current TV, mentioned in newspapers and online magazines, and hosted a satellite radio show on SiriusXM. We list these as he states them and haven't independently verified each one.
